Agency Update: Industrial Commission of Arizona by Jason Porter Deputy Director/General Counsel Arizona Industrial Commission and Denise Blommel, Employment & Labor Attorney (former ICA Assistant Chief Counsel)

In this session, Mr. Porter and Ms. Blommel will provide a brief introduction and history of the Industrial Commission of Arizona and updates on Worker Compensation, ADOSH, and labor.

Agency Update: Department of Justice by Peter Lantka Deputy Chief of the Civil Division for the U.S. Attorney’s Office, District of Arizona.

In this session, Mr. Lantka will discuss the most important cases decided by the recent U.S. Supreme Court and Ninth Circuit affecting the workplace, with an emphasis on racial and gender-based harassment issues.

Agency Update: EEOC by Mary Jo O’Neill, Regional Attorney, Phoenix District Office, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

In this session, Ms. O’Neill will provide an update regarding the role and perspective of the EEOC when established law is confronted by a pandemic. She will address discrimination and harassment – always hot topics that impact employers, but now with the added stress of COVID-19. Participants will be provided with best practices, advice on how to comply with the law, and how to prevent legal claims by the EEOC.
